AND IT WAS SAID

From far and wide they gathered      And from the far off globular points of earth      (A man made globe of lines and intersections) The people sat, and waited, and watched There was a holy man coming it was said To tell us things, thoughts, theories      and who knows what else It was a time of destiny, desolation, and drought A figure appeared on a dusty hillock It was hard to tell if it was man or woman      even up close The voice filled as though in a cavern heard by all The Master spoke in clear and dulcet tones And the crowd asked, "Speak to us Master, of life" "Life," the voice said, "Is not as you know it." "You are yet to know it for you are not worthy" Murmurs set off through the crowd like a       wildfire on a summer's night "Life is love," the voice carried on, "and you have      not shown it." "You drop your bombs of terror, and kill the innocent" "Where is your love in all that?" "You maim, slaughter, and terrorize the born,      and the unborn,      and you call yourselves human" "I rile, rift, and reproach you" "Seek ye not of the gold on the mount,      but rather the gold of your heart" "Seek ye love that does not ask for its return,      but give of love unadulterated" "And lastly - give of life and love, not lust      so that you will find the ultimate ground,      not below, but above, for it is only      in God's ultimate love will ye ever, ever      find peace." "Until that time, you are doomed." The crowd went silent, mesmerized, Not knowing what to do. They sat in silence for forty days,      and then dispersed      doomed into oblivion.
