Restless Slumber (revised)

As I lie in restless slumber something liken to a feather Brushes softly across my mind. A wisp of melancholy, A feeling, difficult to define. At this moment of awakening, I sense your presence near. I cry out in sweet surrender, As lips kiss each lonely tear.   My trembling hand reaches softly Across the space of darkness, To the pillow where you lay. My sobs turn sadly wretched, For I know you have gone away. I sigh in silent resignation, At the thought of losing you, As sweet salty tears begin anew. With tears pooling upon my breasts Beneath where my weeping heart lay  Fragile, worn and open for your sake. I pray, that there, as sorrow crests,  In gentle restless slumbers wake Your head, once again, may rest someday.

Additional Notes:
At the suggestion of my fellow poets, I rewrote this poem in present tense. Attempted to 'fix' some of the offset rhyme and question whether or not punctuation is correct or even necessary.
