Father Dredd

A Jesuit hellion clad in ebon armor, His head oozed out of a clerical collar, Horn-rimmed glasses focused laser eyes, Piglet red, his face frozen in disdain, "Swim or you will drown," he shrieked, His voice filled our hallowed halls. Father Johnson was our Judge Dredd, A Catholic judge, jury and executioner, His classroom was his courtroom, Goofy male sophomores his defendants. Three by Flannery O'Connor a must read, A baffling choice for South Bronx students. Daily gullet gurgled spelling tests,  Not ever scored but flung in the circular file, His college ring was a mighty crimson mace, Which made a funny noise as it hit your head. He sang this song one day . . . "A speech you will give - one minute long." "A monotone voice and you fail." "Too long and you fail." "Too short and you fail" "Not enough eye contact and you fail." "Not enough movement and you fail." "Poor topic choice and you fail." A priest and a teacher of Honors English, In high esteem all held him, 15 and pissing our pants, what do you expect, Then came the day that broke my soul. Wagner was blond and blue eyed,  He wasn't faring so well,  Father Johnson took him aside,  And with love, tenderness and concern said, "Wagner, what is wrong?  These are grades that only spics and niggers get!"
