GOLDFISH LIPS

A silky paw lies poised Above a mirrored pond, Whiskered nose detects A feast to prey upon. Saucered eyes gaze up Through water's shimmered light, Bubbles rise through fronds of green, A testing paw invites. Oh, the shock? That's cold! And wet! What is this thing? Slimy, green and sticky, On my fur it wants to cling. The cat in flustered circles On three legs does protest, The goldfish gazes up in glee, Fins flash in humored jest. This captive fish of gold, His bravery renewed, Approaches liquid window walls To get a better view. Wet cat with green eyed frown, Plant life now disposed, Jumps up to clear walled pond And presses fast his nose. Tail aflash in temper, Poised regally on hips, Finds nothing more amusing Than a pair of goldfish lips.
