Soulmates

We met thousands of years ago. You loved me, and together we built a city of dreams. Soon we could not sleep. Our city fell, and I ran away in fear. You searched for me, crying out in pain and anguish. Here, in this lifetime, we met once more. Recognition was instantaneous and magical! We laughed at life and danced with nature. Again, we mapped out our dreams in the heavens. After a while, my love could not sustain you. You left me. I was confused, empty and wanting. My heart was damaged and my soul was cold. I searched for you in vain, you hid from me. When found, you were shivering with fear.  Destiny or karma? Was the unexplored side of our love never to endure? Cursed, we begged entrance at the door of fate. We asked to pay our debts, but were denied. In another time and place, this I promise you: I will return, for there is no end. But for now, tug on the golden cord that binds us and  I will warm your dreams with the light of eternal love. Until we meet again.......
