A Tale That Never Ends (A Sonnet)

This boy, although a mere twelve years of age, With voice still high-pitched like that of a child Did speak with all the wisdom of a sage, While keeping list'ners baffled and beguiled. He spoke of ancient mysteries and skills With knowledge far surpassing his short life. By means unknown to them, he cured their ills And told them ways in which to end their strife. The lessons borne by him concerned not right Or wrong, or fear, or death, or even sin. He taught the keys of life were love and light, And heaven found in each soul's search within. Some few of list'ners knew this all along; The rest set out to try and prove him wrong.
