Heartbeat

Stood inside on the darkened shore Looking far ahead I see my sanity out of reach I feel my spirit dead The barriers of hate Terrify my mind I dream my impossible dream To escape outside Cold as stone and sharp as ice The devils eyes take hold The beauty of a heartbeat stings When blackened tales are told The scent of my sweet freedom Inspires my inner will To push me towards to that safer place Where I will feel no ill I'm fainting in the mists of  blindness Drowning in the sea I hold myself deep in silence Waiting for the demons to walk free Surrounded by this dampened wall I can’t fight my way out My fingers bleeding, skin is torn But I’m too scared to shout Holding on to pleasures past To joys that I once knew Falling at the feet of heaven The moments were so few My disappearing life of joy Like footprints in the sand I’m sinking in this pit of fire And begging  for your hand I’m wrapped within  the blood of hell And bound by foot and hand Pulling at the chains of life Release me from this land
