Dear Momma

My seed of life, both of you did sow Could it only have been, just a few short months ago? Momma you've sheltered me all safe and warm within For I am your daughter, Makaylyn. Can you feel the flutter of my angel wings? Or has it become just a common thing? Can you feel my butterfly kisses from within? They're especially for you, Momma, from your daughter, Makaylyn. The end is near for our time as one Will it be a misty morn, or sultry night, when I am to be born? Will this new world embrace me, as you have from within? Will your heart swell with pride, when you meet your daughter, Makaylyn? Am I to be the apple of my Daddy's eye? And will he rock me and sing sweet lullabies? Will you tell him Momma how it felt to hold me from within? And how there will never be another, quite like his daughter, Makaylyn. Momma will we always be best friends? And will you stand beside me, until the end? Will your love always surround me and protect me from within? For I am to be forever, your daughter, Makaylyn.

Additional Notes:
This was written in the summer of 2000, at the request of a friend, as a shower gift for the mother to be. I did not nor do I know the parents. Makaylyn was the name they had chose for their daughter. If you choose to critique this poem, please do so from an emotional stand point as well as a technical one. I would appreciate suggestions on how to 'tighten' the structure without loosing the meaning. Punctuation is not my strong point....therefore; I limit it by choice.
