The Extra Mile

Today I stood at the top of a mountain Looking down at an Emerald Isle I saw beauty in all that surrounded me Was it worth walking that extra mile? Hues of color one only dreams of In blades of grass, trees, a babbling brook...  The water and sky blended so well I perceived them as one, with just a look I sat and stretched in peaceful contentment Oblivious of the storm clouds raging fast I felt the soft, warm breeze of summer  I heard only the memories of my past… I awoke, and fully comprehended That the world was dark...all was still No silver moon, no twinkling stars to guide me Just pregnant clouds, waiting to spill Well, we’ve all heard of the good, bad, and ugly Must take each challenge that comes our way We try to compensate when things go wrong Hoping a rainbow will greet us the next day I guess you could say, the moral here is, It’s ALWAYS worth that extra mile... If you achieve your dreams on this journey called life, You can relax, sit back, look back, and smile.
