I Have ...

I have ... lost site of myself Put my feelings on a shelf Been fooled by lies Hid behind a disguise I have ... lived afraid Left when I should’ve stayed Ignored what I felt inside Laughed instead of cried Been confused and full of doubt Never allowed ‘me’ to come out I have ... misinterpreted life Invited pain & strife Put myself in harm’s way Hid from the light of day I have ... been kicked to the floor Pushed out the door All the while begging for more For release I’ve yearned From experience I have learned Too often felt bad For encounters I’ve had Frightened I have been Of what I’ve felt within Walls I’ve built Wracked by guilt Tears I’ve spilt Offered my heart Only to have it torn apart Ignored the whisperings of my soul As time my hope slowly stole I have ... been left alone My sadness unknown I have ... spoken Words merely a token Never heard On wings of a bird I have longed to fly & just disappear  into the great blue sky
