The Dream

Neatly tucked among the folds of time, Lies the reason and the rhyme. Just a mere child's dreams, A life of make believe, or so it seems. Her knight, in shining armor, she did await. As she spun images, of that most important date. A long white satin dress, with lace and pearls. No one would ever know,  She was just a simple, country girl. A cascade of silky blond waves, Did make her a natural halo of golden rays. She floats down the aisle, on her father's arm. Surrounded by love, protected from harm. The words they repeat, as the vows they did take. Standing so poised, just like the couple atop the cake. It seemed so simple, no mistakes were made. A vision of perfection, never to fade. Through eyes grown tired and weary with time, She no longer sees the reason nor the rhyme. With a single tear, and one last sigh, She bids her childhood dreams, a final goodbye.

Additional Notes:
This was written in November 2000...A time when I was trying to decide which fork in the road to take. 'Ties That Bind' was the conclusion to this piece. For those who choose to critique, please give an emotional as well as a technical opinion. I need to 'tighten' it up without loosing the true meaning, and I always appreciate the suggestions and help....even when I don't always agree!
