the coup

came the day she estranged him  in warrant  danced away dismay with steel children (who began to learn flank steak could be defrosted and there was no need to turn the price is right way up) neighbors returned to squat on her porch back lit by fireflies deriding him until he receded into  soft armor of cracked stucco the staccato  tap tap  of  cricket witnesses sang her dominion over her own frail flesh and frame soon afterward  he chavezed himself back into her life with discounted supermarket chain  daisies the children fell straight back into jackets the neighbors scattered like startled mites
