Grey Streaks of Dawn

Just before grey streaks of dawn Begin announcing night has gone And pastel colors tint the sky, The time is right for such as I To stand upon the wave-washed stones And contemplate sea-captive bones; Those who sleep beneath the swells, Those who heard the final bells That tolled as ships so quickly slipped Down to the depths as spirits ripped Away their mortal coil, then drawn Into the sky, grey streaks of dawn.      They seek me out each silent morn      To tell me of the life they've worn.
