And Dances With The Asphodels

Bucket of water slowly hoisted from the well by Lily's deft hands, our mouths awaiting the virgin gift from the subterranean spring. Lily says she sees the reflection of blue sky at the bottom of the well and she has been ten-years blind. She has an inner sight that I cannot specify. A coruscating waterfall cascades from bucket to earthenware olla, not a drop spilled. Receiving my moiety, each sip havasu, skywater. Strolling through the fields behind her cottage, I feel glitter-momoli of the stream sluice beneath my bare feet and see juddering breezes in the jimsonweed. Lily points to a slope: bouncing, blue joie de vivre. The first gentians of the season, azure, cerulean dazzles. The jete of lapis lazuli: a symbol of asphodels to bring the smell of spring to Lily.

Additional Notes:
Havasu and momoli are native American words meaning skywater and water. Olla is an earthenware jug used to keep water cool. A doff of the cap to Wordsworth and Heaney.
