Baby to Be

To a son, or a daughter for the future ahead, My last poem in prison with words to be said. My unborn child though your not mine, this poem is for you these future lines. You haven't a name nor the world you haven't seen, you're still in your mother's womb yet part of my dreams. I'm no one to claim you because your not of my seed, I have to prove myself worthy to call you part of me. Many nights I have cried because a mistake has been done, Though I have informed your mother that I want to be the one. I want to be your father and do the best that I can, I want to be the husband of your mother Joanne. It's a late night in this cell of my own, thinking of you and a place called home. Your mother hasn't told me if she'll want my help, but yet I feel that I must reveal myself. When you are grown, and if I am not at your side, please read this poem and ask you mother..."who was this guy?" My child I love you though your in the process of being formed, I swear that I will be there on the day that you're born. If I'm not your father, then you'll know who I was, to you I'll be a stranger that wanted your love.
