He Remains

Minutes, hours, days, years. But he remains there and me here. New places, new friends, new faces. Some laughter some tears. But he remains there and me here. Precious births, devastating deaths. More sorrow to overcome, more joy to share. But he remains there and me here. How can this be, years gone since half of me died? But he remains there and me here. The loneliness is a silent scream full of sharp edges that rip and tear. But he remains there and me here.

Additional Notes:
This was written a few years after my husband passed away and before I even thought of sharing my poetry....so probably needs work!
