The Kings Of Sea, Air, and Land

Today, tomorrow, and every next week it is the newest legacy, we together, seek The Kings of Sea, Air, and Land fall into the one memory, for the one man... The water runs deep the water runs when I weep to this silent and public acknowledgement before god who loved, loving, loves me, though even and odd and the ancient whales moan long this, most moving of songs the depth calling upon the height with the echoes of a thousand thousand tongues prevailing currents wish they may, wish they might carry the Whalen longing of the young above and far below the upward swells and the undertow the water runs deep the waters run as I sleep below the eagle's nest- the king of birds who fed, feeds, nourished this young soul a nest on the redwood, centuries old and the king calls loudly and strong to his beloved queen- come fly! Where have you been? and for so long? you must see what I can scry To yonder waterfall! We can fly through it all... and the stillest waters run deepest deep in the heart of the jungle's creep to elephant trumpeted fanfare in the bubbling spring where the king of the jungle, bathes and acts the fool with his trunk he slaves to keep his family cool from the dusty heat of fears... he always remembers where they are and listening as danger nears he is calm and all ears the ancient waters run deep in the blood of two heart's sigh the future will hold many a joy and the certain cry and maybe a small girl, or a small boy? it is wise of you not to ask why "love gives naught but itself" of uttermost health "and takes naught but from itself" accept this wealth you two, made for this love a blessing of luck from above raised above my head in this cup to you- in remembrance of the future soon passed it is to this this day we sup may this bond forever last with that, the spell is cast...

Additional Notes:
This poem was written on request for my friend, Cameron. A unpaid commission, as it were. At the time, she was to be married soon, and she wanted to have a poem that represented how she felt towards her fiance'. She sent me all her thoughts and feelngs about him, we talked some on the phone about him, and with that information I wrote this for her, to him. She was the person who first believed in my poetry and let me know that she thought I had something significant to say with it. It's more a devotional than anything else- I was hoping it would sound a bit like an old wizard's tale, with big natural imagery and positive ideas. Funny thing is, soon after, they moved to Holland- and so I still have never met the guy... :-) This poem has been on Cameron's personal web site in the past, so in that sense it has been "published" but I don't think it has been anywhere else.
