After Noon Child

once I laid out my fear in front of strangers who did not mock this moment's fate once I fell, first trying to walk once I napped in the afternoon sun once I sat up straight, over the levee from the dock... and released the anger and the dangers done- striving and fighting for some Thing, yours, standing beside pushing through the wind without cares making a windshield world divide drunk on adult affairs... In stead, a Stop, anew Now but Not to- delighting... so let's begin warmed flush by sun beam in luminous sigh brushed clean by a dream wind up in massive oak pride with squirrel commanding beside to dig under and past rock where greenest grass and scent bend into a bean stalk - pretend - without crying, with out trying in the afternoon, child again...

Additional Notes:
I rewrote the original version of this poem entirely during the post to this site. I hope you like it. I think it's better than it was. This poem is a tribute to the very nice park across the street from me. We have these huge oak trees, just on the other side of the levee from the river. There are always these legions of squirrels out, and it's just delightful. This is a poem full of the song of spring in my heart.
