Parallel River

Light and darkness, life and death,  together they rule the lives of men. Each day lived, comprised of both.  Light being the Life of man, he must  face the darkness within and without, allowing grace to purge sin's shadows. From the fathoms of eternity flow two rivers,  parallel but entirely opposite; constantly  channeled by Unseen Hands. One is a stream of Life, the other a chilly river of death;  both, without warning, can flood our valleys  of decision, forcing us to face our purpose.  A universe of color cascades through a Prism of Truth, reflecting pure Light into sparkling waters of the River of Life. In His River, boundless heavenly drink promises such sweet refreshment, warm  and cleansing water in deepest currents. Men cleverly try to build their own bridge across; so many choose drowning in their own vanity, rather than tasting and bathing in fresh waters. Suddenly, cold, muddy waters swirl around them, reaching out icy fingers, freezing life's breath, as shadows of fear lengthen, all hope diminishes. No way out, no way around appointed crossing. As feet slip uncertainly on muck of the riverbank, Death waits, mysteriously and maliciously for all, diligently keeping a vigil, lying in wait for victims. Raging, dark and foreboding, deadly rapids roar, echoing through deepest recesses of each soul. You must choose, darkness or Light, Life or death?  Drink Life and bathe in Truth, so when you cross  that black river, the Wind of God's Grace will roll  back cold waters, as brightness of His Son shines around you, dispersing shadows of death, leading to a promised land where Jesus is Light and Life.
