b. 4-12-1977 dx. 11-29-1981 d. 6-1-1982 that you developed a peri-rectal abscess was really of no surprise, for if not there then another site would have worked just as well to bring the end closer to the now that burned with each tick of clock, each injection, drips of poisons raining off the medical roof under which you had sought eager refuge your twin sister couldn't visit, and after the many months of separation your poor lovely mother became a victim of your disease, no, not just her, your previously innocent and happy family lost its virginity in the path lab once the bone marrow aspirate confirmed the suspected: a transmogrification of primitive neural crest cells escaped in a pod, set up shop down the streets and alleyways selling stealing begging and borrowing from  the little you that sat in the tiny red sandbox at Fourth and Elm just a few weeks prior to your introduction to our house of horrors Stage Four Neuroblastoma. It has a  Nasty ring, I think, a knell whose tolling Sends shivers up (is it down?) the spines Of men like me who love little girls In ponies and curls, whose mommies And daddies cherished them once The bell tolls daily And you live inside My halls of ivy A little girl who Primed the pump Every day, and Even as the gas  ran out into the street you smoked your pipe  like a sailor
