Helen's Song

"There's two…no three, let's see - there's James and….hmm I use to know. Isn't it awful, I can't remember my kids names." "I've been here since… …well, I don't remember when. I don't suppose it matters, I'll never go home again." "Seems I recall in a poem or a song someone saying,  'Hold on to your memories, they can't take that from you', but they were wrong." Eyes more pathetic than sad Stared at the locked front door. Tears of abandon welled-up inside, "They hardly come 'round anymore" And so it goes day after day, And breath after empty breath. "One day I won't know who I am… how is that different from death?"
