Poem Presence

I am learning we have power even within a poem. That power is in the present moment involving the reader in the journey. The adventure is setting the chart to a new location--the land of Illusion and come up with something unique  to coastal waters. A fine relic or something quite ordinary, but special nevertheless. The action of the waves propels me, turning the white capped waters to words of power. This is done in the present tense. Today the wind is hitting the sails just right and the waters are steady, tomorrow I might not be as lucky. My crew are thoughts, and memories. Riding the currents totally obsessed with discovery. I take voyage with the words, avoiding being capsized. As my quest continues, I, the captain open  my logbook to record the trip.  I have my compass pen, setting course for due north. Full speed ahead. On the briny sea on which I travel the crew begins to sing a mariner song. Eureka! Looking through binoculars, one of the crew members spots land. I anchor the ship, then step onto shore. Surveying the territory I find  the essence and presence of a poem. Planting a flag, I then make the last entry in the logbook---completed voyage.
