Resilient Dreams

Frayed wallpaper hangs  listlessly in the long abandoned dwelling that once provided a sense of security, a place of warmth and comfort; my childhood home. My step is heavy on the now grayed, lackluster  wooden floor that creaks it's own melody with each movement I make. Particles of dust fill the air  as I settle on the faded flower sofa, scrutinizing intently my surroundings as raindrops descend on the tinkling tin roof. I perceive a juncture with this lonely, neglected house. Remembering the vivacity of  life shared here, not unlike the dreams I once had. Sighing, I move slowly, one last glance about the room, Opening the groaning wooden door I walk slowly down the cracked,  uneven concrete stairs.    Outside, the rain has stopped and I gaze with pleasure at the wildflowers swaying in the breeze, renewed by moisture laden sky. Feasting my eyes on the old abandoned homeplace, I smile  with the memories and know I'm ready to spring back to capture once forgotten dreams.
