The Juice-n-arky

October, season of the hunt. Camp pitched in a forest lea. A tent, a trailer, a camper, bags of oats, bales of hay. Three quarter horses, a Morgan mare, and one Juice-n-arky. Now the Juice-n-arky was but a mule who belonged to one old rancher. Clearly he was stubborn and no fool, short stocky legs, not those of a dancer. The glowing sunrise lie upon the rimy forest grasses. The smell of pines sweet and strong, air crisp, quiet, and windless. "Who will ride the Juice-n-arky?" was the question posed. Dave or Mike they take no malarky "I'll ride him" Dave supposed. Fearless, Dave mounted his steed who jumped straight and high up. Poor Juice-n-arky was not freed saddle and crupper held despite his flare-up Legs stiff as if shot from a cannon ears laying flat, eyes wild. All cheered "hang on Davey hang on." And so he did, but a wee bit riled. The hunting party forged a path in the mountains called Big Horn. Juice-n-arky puffed like Goliath on that frosty October morn. Days end arrived with sunset hues, showering the pines with gold and blue. The Juice-n-arky stomped, threw his shoes, jerked, snorted was all he could do. Saddle not quite right tail held up by the crupper. The juice-n-arky lost the fight. Davey still atop, a real come-upper. A mule rider was surely born on that chilly October morn.
