LEO THE LEOPARD Leo the leopard lived in my car. Together we journeyed round town or quite far. Fuzzy pink nose, blue shoe button eyes, a spotted companion we cruised side by side. On a hot afternoon by a freeway unkind, I held a small boy, his face searching mine. I picked up old Leo and snuggled him tight, then placed in the arms of a child in great fright. Wiggly black whiskers made the child smile, his attention diverted at least for a while. The little boy left with Leo at play, a fuzzy companion on an overcast day. Leo the leopard is no longer mine. He's doing the work of One most Divine. |
