Missing You

The silence of night still resonates  with the timbre of your voice,   and your face still smiles behind    the memory of our kiss. A fool's companion, a traitor,   time guarantees only the moment's hand,   as love stands waiting    on the other side of the bridge.  A framed picture of two,   drenched in newfound love,    greets my morning gaze and     brings longing back to stare. I attempt to push you behind  the clutter of my day, but   saturated with the essence of your soul    I cannot. Words singing through a telephone  do not relieve missing you,      but the impediment of circumstance    is only a short walk.    A winding river, and a distant angel waits  on its bank,   with a coat of many colors,    as we are carried out to sea.  I cannot feel your heart beating next to mine  under cold covers,   curl up to your form, or feel the warmth    of your skin. I can sink into my dreams  wrapped in love's embrace,   delirious with the promise    our love captured on a June night.
