Fait Accompli

Strolling the fringe of the forested path, freshly fallen autumn leaves crunch beneath my booted steps as I near the forked path  that lies ahead, two steps forward, one step back, faltering with uncertainty of what lies ahead, flickering thoughts of yesterday intrude on today, if only for a moment, yet fervent in my desire  to follow visions of tomorrow, I forge ahead, opting to fuel the flame to a yet untraveled road, fearing not foreign soil, fostering hope in febrile efforts to explore unfamiliar territory bringing me closer to fulfillment of dreams unrealized. Thirsting with fervor, I forsake familiarity, embarking   on my maiden journey. Exiting the wooded canopy, sunlight wraps me  in her welcoming warmth. Willingly  I bid farewell to the past, fashioning my plans to what lies over the horizon, the path no longer obscure.
