Arsenio

Snowy Brillo hair heralds happiness Borrowed ivory teeth usher sunshine A stately octogenarian with a Hawaiian smile Accompanied by trade wind laughs  His Caribbean kissed face frames mocha eyes Birds of Paradise flitter from his chapped lips Wiry viney arms petrified by toil hug me Poppa, how are you? Some pain but that means I'm alive! The sterile tundra hums with artificial life Plastic vines and stems criss-cross chaotically Frostbitten hands scalpel skin and muscle Icy dust-free light illuminates the living island Detached eyes probe and prod Monitors hoot eerily like snowy owls The contamination guards the Pancreas Poppa, how are you? Some pain but that means I'm alive! Slushy dull hair speckled like autumn leaves A toothless mouth inhales the dawn's breath Sallow shrunken cheeks struggle to smile Belie the feelings of somber rain filled clouds His happy gait now a gray death march I watch the sun setting in his yellow eyes The emptiness of the season fills my heart Poppa, how are you? Tired. Very tired.
