I earned an M.F.A. in Creative Writing/Poetry from the University of Arizona
in 1991, and since then have been struggling to make ends meet running a
natural foods business called The Tao of Natural Foods (catering and whole-
sale) here in Tucson. I also volunteer my time as Director of The Tibetan
Meditation Center of Tucson, wherein I'm blessed with the great fortune of
having regular contact with some of the most sublimely realized beings on
the planet. I've finished a collection of poems entitled *Among Angels and
Crabs* and am working on a book-length narrative poem on the life of
Padmasambhava, the great eighth century master who founded vajrayana
Buddhism in Tibet (*The Lotus King*). And I have a year and a half old
daughter named Mandarava, whose antics keep me quite busy, and who is a
constant reminder to me of how it is our children who teach us the greatest
humility.
