It seems like I’ve always written poetry; and I hope I always will. Sometimes I will work on a poem for months, and never be happy with it… Other times it seems like a poem was just there. In essence, waiting for me to find it. It will start in my head and I have to write it down… NOW! Most of those poems seem to be almost perfect from the start. I always wonder, how other poets work. Is it the same for you?
I write on a variety of subjects, and I like to think of my poetry as being eclectic. The truth is I’m a bit of a manic-depressive and my poetry reflects it. Light/Dark… Love/Hate… Passion/Despair… Poetry is great therapy.
I’ve always helped friends with their poetry (mostly with finding the right word or fine tuning a phrase) and I enjoy trying to help through the critique forum on The Poetic Link. I will have to admit though; there are many poets out there who are much better qualified then I. I have been very impressed with some of the suggestions I’ve read on this site. However, I will be happy if I can help someone even in a small way.
I also look forward to getting feedback on some of my poems. I tried another website and didn’t get the response I was looking for. So far from what I’ve read I believe this site will give me what I’m looking for.
Oops… Gotta go write; I feel one of those poems begging me to tell it’s story.
