I grew up listening to my father recite the works of Robert Service, many of which he had committed to memory. "The cremation of Sam McGee" was one of my favorites. My mother was a librarian, and encouraged me to read the stories and poetry of Kipling, Carroll, Longfellow and others. If I have any poetic talent at all - I owe thanks to my Mother and my Father.
