Hi! I'm a 51-yr. old Southern girl living in the country outside a little town named Liberty. My husband of 32 yrs. and I are experiencing the empty nest because Melanie, our 18-yr. old daughter entered Furman University this fall and our 26-yr. old son, Michael, a Clemson Univ. graduate in Comp. Sci., has been out of the house for awhile. Melanie is planning to double-major in English & History, and is quite a talented writer herself, having had a few poems published on The Poetic Link. Last summer she interned at a local newspaper & has also had 2 articles published in "The Paladin," Furman's student paper. (By the way, Go Paladins-Beat Montana---for those of you who keep up with 1-AA football!). A black Lab, Maggie, a Boykin spaniel, Chief, & 3 cats (Mittens, Millie, & Allie) complete our family
The empty nest is not a bad thing, though, because now I am free to travel with my husband. Since September I have made 2 trips to S. Florida & the Keys, & have another trip planned for Jan. In the past we have traveled to Hawaii, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, & many other states, as well as cities like L.A., New Orleans, Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C., N.Y.C. Outside the U.S. we have been to Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, and several other Carribean islands. So far my best trip was last June when I took my daughter & her friend to London, Paris, & Nice on our own. That was fantastic & I can't wait to go back, as well as to lots of other places.
As far as personal interests besides traveling, they include reading, writing, history, studying French, hiking, motorcycling (on the back of my husband's Harley!), boating, snorkeling, & personal fitness.
The most important thing in my life is my personal relationship with and salvation through Jesus Christ. This often comes out in my poetry, altho not always intentionally. He has changed my life in ways uninmaginable and blessed me beyond measure, day in & day out. After God, my family are most important to me, and then to try to spread the knowledge & goodness of Jesus to the rest of the world. I am happy to have found this site, because I believe it can help me do that!
