Portrait | Audrey R Donegan | Cool, concise poem - the opening line is excellent. It sets the tone for the entire poem. The last line is also good, it wraps the poem up nicely, I think, but it is concrete enough to give us readers a sense of what is happening. I'm not so sure about the second line - "an outline of subtlety". I like the idea of an outline, but I don't know if the word "subtlety" would be the strongest word choice here. You may not even need the word "subtlety" - "outline" may be enough. | 2006-04-18 21:21:49 |
Silence | marilyn terwilleger | This seems to be the strongest of all the poems you submitted this month. The spacing of the lines, the arrangement, is elegant, yet strong. The repetition of the word "tears" is strong, as well, and the last line strengthens the poem by adding to the subtle rhyme scheme. | 2006-04-18 20:54:28 |
Venus on the Half Shell | Joanne M Uppendahl | Very lyrical, the words do a good job of explaining the senses in the poem. I believe the third stanza is the strongest, and although not everyone may agree with me, I think the ending is appropriate. | 2006-04-18 20:27:05 |
