I am a 18 year old senior in high school. I have written poetry on and off for many years, however really started writing it in depth in a poetry class I took last semester. My writing focuses on two themes.
The first is the fact that I have a disability that forces me to walk with crutches and leg braces. I write this here, because when I first wrote my poems, I wrote them for people that already knew of my condition (cerebral palsy), so direct references to my disability were not always in my poems. Hopefully this will clear that up, so when you start reading my poetry you won't think its a big mystery.
I also like high school varsity sports, and am a avid fan of most of our teams, (despite the fact I can't play..) I design web site's for softball, basketball and volleyball, and I also P.A. announce a lot of basketball and volleyball games. You will no doubt see these references in some of my poems. The fact that I like to rhyme is also very evident in my poems. I like this system because of the structure it provides. I also like using metaphors a lot. Finally, this poetry is not meant as a 'sob story' or a chance for me to say 'poor little me.' I've gone through that stage already, and in my mind I'm stronger because of it. Happy reading!!
