The Last Master

Why a rainbow? It is said that it’s Gods promise      never to flood the earth again! Big deal! How about a rainbow so that there    …   Will be no more wars?   …   No more starvation?   …   No more hatred?   …   No more sick children? How about that? Huh God? Don’t these things mean anything,         to you? Or would you call that free choice? Free will ?  Or exactly what? ‘Cause I’m getting tired God! I don’t hear answers Give me something to go on      besides faith! With that the Master doffed his white robe Left his followers on the hillside Picked up his staff, and walked wearily on… With the rainbow drooping behind him

Additional Notes:
With thanks to a previous submission for the inspiration. I was going to name this poem, "My Prayer" but decided it would fit better into the "Master" series (which may or may not be continued).
