November Nightlife

         **              *         *            *               *          *       *   *                     *              *    *    As I                                                      search for familiar apparitions those ridiculously loud blue-eyed streetlights parading down my street impair my view of a distant twinkling celebrity whose name I once scratched into the exposed hip of a steep hill’s sandstone flank telling the story of love  its star would later only dimly recall whose details would reflect years of filtering through the cosmic dust of late nights timed in wilting wax  whose stale beer nuts retain none of  the stigmata of traveling the speed  of life - and as if I’d failed to properly portray  us even tho’ lies are hidden away I feel a distant sky-face snarl and sneer a twinkle for those who’ve forgotten.
