And Pray the Lord

Tonight, the sky radiates as if with fire's last flashes simmering behind bare trees; stars begin to spark from a single heart.  A door bangs as someone happens home; an old car wambles down our road and neighbors chatter through nightfall. As I walk, my footfalls sigh in dry grass whispering of life, perhaps a fading lullaby for our planet before sleep overtakes her.
