Force of Nature

Sunset melts in violet shades     as tide recedes in a chilly froth Intent on chasing my footsteps       erasing traces of my whereabouts Relentless, an albatross floats      seemingly tethered in the wind Mounds of feathery sea oats wave       gripped by their stubborn roots I could retreat like the waves      allow the gusts to escort me back So the sand wouldn't sting my face    but then my tears couldn't dry  Perhaps... in constraint there is freedom      for the albatross    the sea oats and me.
