He Was He wore a letter sweater young, strong, invincible enjoyed the win not defeat he was an athlete. He wore stripes on fatigues rifle slung about shoulder a bullet slowed, but felled him not he was a solider. He wore an orange vest trod timber, climbed hills head low, eyes peeled he was a hunter. He wore a badge on his chest a gun belt spanned his hips protecting the innocent his quest he was a policeman. His life never saw it's twilight, in the deep dark recesses of night his brave and steady heart failed he was my husband. |

I was going through some papers and came across this poem. It would
need a lot of work to be postable but decided to post it anyway just
as I wrote it.
