Dementia

Gleefully He glues them Delight in his eyes “Lookit all these!!” He points To a mess Of uncanceled stamps “We’re savin’ money!” “That’s right” says I “Bet your ass!” he responds Hours well spent First peeling That’s one afternoon Then sticking Some more hours used “If you stick the corners first….” “Yeah, you gotta stick ‘em” I leave the office   My stomach aches Millionaire or not Soon he won’t be here at all

Additional Notes:
I've worked for this man for over thirty years. I never imagined I'd have to watch him slowly fade. For some reason that scenario never occurred to me, I always pictured a heart attack or something like that. I'm waiting for the day he doesn't know me.
