Finding Mary You were my only refuge as a child. I saw the lovely woman garbed in blue that smiled at me, whose look was sweet and mild and named me daughter. Oh, how I loved you. I searched for you through many years of fear and doubt. Communion with you was denied by shame and anger. Hope lost through the years, I drowned myself in Ego and its pride. A floating action, without roots or faith I passed through life alone, unable to re-light the sun within, confine its rays and warm self’s center, still I yearned for you. Not till surrender did I find the chase was needless; You are found within each face. |
Additional Notes:
Still trying! Some day I'll get it. As a child, Mary became the mother I had lost, even if I'm not Roman Catholic. Then I ran into a woman who taught me to "see God in everything". After that it was easy to see Mary in every woman I have ever met, been acquainted with or heard about.
