Pastoral Days The sun bends forward to caress bronze bodies as they stir the grass like ageless offspring of time As horse’s hooves scrape an eager earth of roots etched in the deepest green while drift-dogs worry sheep poised about abundant an pasture ground When without warning day pauses in interlude for a night that creeps unobserved as sleep spreads a contentment that lounges over the land. |
