Natural Gifts

Little feathers jumping in the trash can fluttering in plastic, to young for sky sang for cheerios while the wings would fan remaining grounded patting earth I sigh peel the grass reveal the sweet baby shell tiny logs with claws suddenly peak out your cold blood warms and swims the chest to swell a pool to shallow to survive the drought two little eyes of nature framed in fur climb my limbs puff your strawberry breath my bark is mouthed, you twitch and fluff and stir may flowers  tuck your bed, covering  death  every spring outside the door awaits  cries of children trying to cheat their fates
