You Win

At a railing on the water's edge I stood waiting nervously for you I should have realized in that moment you never intended to be there too My heart was crushed in an instant old feelings of being just a silly fool Not even a call to say you're sorry I never thought you could be so cruel I tried to ignore those lingering doubts my intuition warned I should not go But you spoke of how you wanted me I made myself believe that it was so No loving arms to tenderly embrace your eyes of blue I did not see An eternity of lonely hours hoping but no, you weren't there for me I have tried to live without you douse the flicker of this flame within But the cards are stacked against me at this game you will always win.
