Roads less traveled

Drinking, drugging, sunshine shunning Sands of life, of time are running  Out like hands-the fingers splayed Wishing days and nights away Roaming listless as the clouds Alive alone but dead in crowds My world made up of happy hours Shared with beggars, thieves and liars Born a captive, sworn to slave Torn of cradle, scorn to grave Love- the foreign, unknown dreams Gives voice to hellish, private screams Daylight merely dries the rains Shedding light on painful stains Mind and soul rubbed pinkish raw Drawing life through shortest straw Now looking back so much the same Down muddy, rutted roads I came My footprints by the rain washed clean As if my life had never been.
