Showdown

“What Philip of  Spain tried to do and failed; what Napoleon wanted to do, And could not; what Hitler never had the courage to attempt,  we are about to do, and with God’s grace we shall succeed.”                               Lt.Commander Eric Boak                               Royal Navy                                                                         “Okay lads, this is it. If you gotta pee do it now” He roared above the engines Where the hell am I gonna pee In this tin bucket called a Landing Craft I thought to myself as I held onto my barf bag one last time and threw it over the side (making sure it was closed like the Sergeant Major said. This is it. I couldn’t wait any longer. I peed my pants. Who the hell cares I thought? I’ll be in water up to my neck soon enough. Before boarding we were given condoms. We all snickered. “They’re not for the French gals you dummies.” They’re to keep the water from going into the barrel.” We came to a grinding halt as the door dropped onto enemy soil… And I dropped into history. It was D-Day.

Additional Notes:
Taken from conversations from some Vets at the Veteran's Hospital. I used the first person for obvious reasons.
