Against the Wind

I walk against the wind as it detains me from my destiny I am obstinate and travel on avoiding the other path As I walk against the wind it blows my hair from my eyes removing the veil of my creative innocence I must acknowledge the truth in life never concealing it and I must be wary of the evil My body and soul grow weaker as I travel on but now the wind caresses me  it supports me like a friend It moves to blow against my back snapping my hair against my cheeks shielding me from temptation, when my soul is weak It gently urges me onward to conquer other heights my companion by day, my protector by night

Additional Notes:
I was feeling reflective today and thought I'd share this old poem of mine... written Wed., November 16, 1988. It was in one of my phases where I'd skip school and just walk, endlessly, hoping for a way to escape it all. The aloneness and the angst that reality was riddled with.
