Poof

It’s amazing how absurd  when you really think about it   In the natural world where even waste is not wasted   You would have me believe that all the lives that ever were   Are just gone   Poof

As esoteric a piece as I have ever read. The ending is prophetic and anti-climatic at the same time. I believe in the quantum integration of all spirits and life, so I wouldn’t have you believe that; but how powerful can a piece be? I enjoyed your use of the term “absurd” it is how I feel about many simple truths that seem to evade our explanation. I don’t know it this is a theological or scientific piece, I do know that the philosophy behind the subject is longer than any other. What a terrific poem. I thoroughly enjoyed the read!! If you never hear of me again, assume "poof", till you follow; we'll have a cup of joe as we laugh at it all.

Interesting thought Ken, though my heart tells me there is a much better place then ours where these 'souls' have gone and thus poof, we cannot see them here any longer but they will always be with us in one way or another.....ben there, done that so I know its true.........even waste is not wasted......right there too. Short, to the point my friend as always well done. Thanks for the thought of the day for me......and for others who have stopped to read along the way. Take care, hope all is well in your part of the country too.....just down the road a way I think. God Bless, Claire

Dear Kenneth, Short and to the point, but very thought provoking, which is why I really enjoyed this. How true your words are. Even when waste is not wasted.......all the lives that were are just gone, poof? I find myself questioning my mortality now, as I get older - something I never gave much thought to in my youth. Even though a life can be gone, at any age. I prefer to believe, that this is not the end for us, that something does come after - because believing that, makes it easier to acknowledge - death, and the finality of it all. Good poem, thanks for posting. sincerely, Denimari

Hi Ken, Very thought provoking piece! I am now sitting her pondering about some of the people I've known that have died and what their life amounted to after their demise. It could be a happy thought , but alas I'm afraid it has turned to a sad one. This has an original title and I like the repitition of it at the end. And yes it is amazing to think how absurd it really is. lol Best, Jen

Kenneth, The energy in life still is.....It's been seen leaving the body. It goes somewhere, maybe back to the source. I think poof we're dead but not gone .....[hopefully] You got me thinking. This is where faith enters the picture. dellena

excellent!! short and strong in form. I am a lover of poetry that says what is necessary and leaves the reader to ponder..I really enjoyed "Poof", it makes me wonder, and that is "a good thing"..

Kenneth, Sorry I'm a bit late on getting to your poem, health probs. I really like the train of thought here, it follows such a natural course in the way one thinks and rationlizes. The subject matter is truly something to ponder and I like you just find it hard to believe that Poof and that's all there is, just not logical in my mind. I believe you've given all something to ponder regardless of their philoshies or befliefs. Thank you for this simple but deep poem. Lora

No, it's not gone. The energy is still here. I once got shit from a critiquer. 'cause I said that we all have the energy of those gone by, even Hitler's. So no Kenneth, you are right. Good short piece which said much in 8 lines. Poof!
