Footprints

We leave footprints upon the earth when we depart. Clues linger that reveal of our preexistence.  From the depth of love's memory we all continue.  The good, the bad, the acts of all, round out to line  the edge of time. Of light lit touch or forever  furrowed chasm, what was remains and alters the course  of all that comes there after, with significance.

Dellena--Nothing, absolutely nothing is more truthfully stated than these succinct words. This metaphoric write speaks to humanity's influence/mark left by individuals and as a whole. This offering is an excellent inference that our ancestors are directly/indirectly responsible for what and where we took our keys/ques to advance this far; we also will leave a certain unmistakeable flavor of our own to indicate we were here. Speaker says it best; "Of light lit touch or forever furrowed chasm, what was remains and alters the course of all that comes there after, with significance." Terse, sagely presented and well thoughtout. TLW

Footprints.....indeed a fitting title for indeed we do leave a part of ourselves when we leave this existence to begin our journey into the next. I especially enjoyed :From the depth of love's memory we all continue.....for the love we have had and the love we have given in our lifetime certainly allow for those memories to continue..........My son once told me.....you are my mother, you are my mentor, I would not be where I am today without your love and guidance and he now is leaving a great mark of his own. Thanks for inviting me to stop by.....as always my friend you do wonderful work, God Bless, Claire

Dellena, Charming, endearing although I stumbled with line 2, "reveal of?" somehow the wording was awkard to me. Good meter, moves right along although IMO you could drop "with significance" for me it was like an after thought. Good priniciples for us to remember, great view of acceptance. Thanks for the read. best always, Lora

Dear Dellena, What a poignant piece - very touching and thought provoking as well. I've just recently read something - about the dash...... - between our year of birth and death - being the most significant part of our lives - wish I could remember the website to share - but can't right now. Your poem reminded me of it a little - as in where you say - Fromt he depth of love's memory we all continue - and we do - the spirit we energized while here on earth, will go on in the memories of others that crossed our paths. Very good line, I enjoyed that. I like the rhymng scheme of line 4 - line and time work well there, especially with such a poetic statement! Very nicely written - it's nice to be back - and enjoying poetry again. Good luck. Denimari

Hi D....I just love this poem...it speaks of all the things we are...both written and between the lines left unwritten. It is very wise and somehow has a melancholy feel to it...not morose or sad maybe it's more wistful than anything else. Each line could be made into another poem because of their depth and truth. My two favorite lines are....we leave footprints upon the earth when we depart.....and...from the depth of love's memory we all continue. Both lines are lovely and evocative. With each poem you write I think you have written your best and this one is no exception. well done....bravo and roses at your feet. Blessings....Marilyn
