Paradoxical Parody

~ Enter here, my precious one. So glad you finally came. Come penetrate my threshold to the parlour of your pain. Your penchant for perversity has brought you to my door, to prove your predilection with all things you abhor. Come closer now, my pretty one, I’ll peer into your soul. That parody of pleasantry thrust deep in darkened hole. A portrait of repulsion is etched upon your face. Your eyes return depravity, reflections of my taste. Follow me, my playful one. Swiftly now, you'll see. This path is meant to inculcate, point out proclivity. Errant spirits flourish here nurtured on your fears. We'll dine on your repugnance, toast you with your tears. Panic not, precautious one, no longer you shall weep. Your everlasting life we shield in paradoxical sleep. ~

Mary--A witty almost tongue twisting Poe-like echo. These well pre- sented quatrains (IMO)inferences the diabolical work of an archangel among "sheep". This alliteration saturated rhyming write could easily be a depiction of souls being secured through temptations (my favorite and most telling of the verses); "Your penchant for perversity has brought you to my door, to prove your predilection with all things you abhor." Although blessed with free will, humans in this scenario are again beguiled; "Panic not, precautious one, no longer you shall weep. Your everlasting life we shield in paradoxical sleep." An brilliant dark offering with intriguing under/over-tones. I enjoyed the effort that went into this post. TLW

Hi Mary...all the while I was reading this I was thinking...Wow Mary has some great 'P' sounds (or poofs) going on here. This is a dark poem but I really like it. Sometimes the more ambiguous we are the better the write. It sets our imagination free and lets us go places we would not ordinarily go. You have employed some wonderful word choices and your rhyme is musical and has an even flow. To me this poem is flawless and the theme is mystical and intriguing to say the least! You write beautiful poetry but you have really out done yourself with this one. It is superb and goes on my list.....bravo and red roses at your feet. Blessings....Marilyn

Mary, Simply wonderful. Love the flow, the rhyme, the meter and of course the verbiage. This I will print and save, would be a great one for the October month....LOL... Just the same, there is something by way of truth in it for those who stray too far off into things that are best left alone... I now have a new found respect for the letter P. Thanks for such a great read and the fun with the letter "P". Warmest always, Lora
